Global Village Diploma in Business Management

Graduates

June 2006 - After a 12 week journey, the first graduates from GV Vancouver’s Career Training Centre Diploma in Business Management (DIBM) program are ready to make their marks in the business world!

Three students from Japan, Eri Terashita, Tatsuya Konno and Shumpei Fujikawa, worked through a series of tough assignments and interesting projects to complete their diplomas on June 23.

The students with teacher David Morton and Program Coordinator Kathleen Larkey

All students had scores of 90% or above on their final assignments, which consisted of an exam, a detailed, professional quality business plan and a final oral presentation of their material in front of an audience consisting of other business students and teaching staff, who asked the presenters challenging questions.

Vacation in the Okanagan area

Based on a program from The National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship, students in the DIBM learn and practice real-life skills for a career in business. These include: planning a marketing campaign, practicing managerial-level written and verbal business communication and presenting a business plan for an original enterprise.

Working both independently and cooperatively, with their instructor David Morton to guide and encourage them, the students agree that this has been a very useful and worthwhile experience.

  • “Great content and great teacher!”
  • “It will help me get a good job in Japan”
  • “It was really good to make a business plan by myself”

Not only did these students attain high academic achievement, but all three have become good friends and even celebrated their graduation with a week’s vacation in British Columbia’s Okanagan resort area.
